Whether its feeling like a hitman or Ryan Gosling in Drive, tight leather driving/racing gloves are kinda badass. But have they declined in practicality? Are they mere novelities that the average basement-dwelling Neckbeard will buy from Hot Topic to look like a Level XIIVI Wizard? Where can one get driving gloves that A) are classy B) aren't super $$$ C) don't make you look super creepy when you step out in front of Safeway. What do you all think?

I think driving gloves make you look like kind of a tool.

Unless you're waring a full racing suit and a helmet.

If you're not driving a open-top car with a stock wood steering wheel, ditch the gloves.

I wear my ///M zip driving gloves every time I drive my car. I wear them because 1. I'm a douchebag 2. I have an aluminum shift ball that gets really hot or really cold. Same with my black leather steering wheel. 3. It protects my wheel 4. They're really soft 5. They were like $45

I have thinsulate-lined leather gloves that I wear in the winter time. Because it gets cold here in Wisconsin and I want something that gives decent driving feel.

But not actual "driving" gloves.

My brother gave me Fratelli Orsini handsewn lambskin gloves for christmas. I've used em a handful of times, but I figure I'll get regular use one day when I own a GTV.

#1 was the best. My steering wheel and shift knob get super hot during the summer as well. Along with the rest of my car. Maybe I should invest in some

I really want to wear old school driving gloves all the time, but unfortunately it's the fedora of car enthusiasts. I don't want to be shamed.

Fapping is the manual transmission of sex acts.

So much control and a lot safer, try to eat a bigmac or put makeup on while you fap.

I'm debating getting some Autodromo driving gloves but they cost $125 and I hate buying things online. And I drive a classic sports car so I feel OK wearing them but I only wear them in the car and take them off when I get out.

Anyway, I think that on modern cars they look kind of stupid and quite douchey because in general they are not needed. Now, if you drive a classic car with a wood steering wheel or wood gear shift then you're OK. However if you car does have material that gets quite hot/cold then they could be useful.

Good for you for not caring what people say and always wearing them. Sure, there are people who will argue they fit better with a Bugatti Type 35 than a modern BMW 5-series, and they're right, but it doesn't diminish their awesomeness in other applications. I'd do the same... if I had a car >.<

I've got some $2 cotton gardening gloves with little black rubber nubs on them

Kinja'd!!!

which I wear when I drive with the top down during what Floridians laughably call "winter." Get the heater going full blast to keep my legs and feet warm and a scarf, jacket and hat on; o Hell yeah it doesn't get better than this.

I'm also considering a 260Z. Because it's one of the few old, interesting sports cars I like that isn't becoming ridiculously overpriced and/or hard to find.

Did you see that post about how Nissan used to restore the old Zs for a very reasonable cost?

We should have got in on that... I didn't know it was a thing. I always liked the old Zs when I was a kid.

Yeah, I remember that program from back when it was announced...Nissan was restoring 240Z's and selling them in the mid 20's. Too bad I was still in high school.

Something like that will probably never happen again for any car. Very cool and rare for a program like that to be put in place.

I have a set of Fratelli Orsini lambskin driving gloves (good price, good quality) and I have found a very practical use for them (aside from looking awesome): They keep my hands from frying on the steering wheel after it's been sitting out all day at an autocross. Although I only wear them when I'm racing, daily driving I go bare-handed.

I have a pair of black leather half-finger driving gloves that I wear because the inside of my car gets insanely hot. That's easy to do when 75% of the cabin is glass and I've only got one side I can block sun. I'd prefer not burning my palms on the wheel or the stick.

They also happen to match the '80s retro look I usually wear.

I like my track gloves on track. I hate touching hot knobs. ( huh huh ) The extra padding seems to keep away blisters 'n' crap, too.

That being said, I'd feel like a knob just wearing gloves to fart around town. Oh well.
